ILM Level 6 Award in Management
The Award in Management has been designed to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation for their formal development as a manager. The qualification also acts as bridge between Level 3 and Level 5 qualifications, preparing learners for the more rigorous demands of study at a higher level.
The Award consists of two mandatory units. In ‘Developing the executive manager’ participants collect and analyse feedback on their personal management practice and effectiveness. This information is then evaluated against significant management theories / models and schools / trends in management thinking. To finish the unit, participants identify strengths in their own management practice and prepare an action plan to address areas for improvement.
In the second unit of the Award, ‘Critical thinking and research skills in management’, participants critically review an influential theory or model of best practice that is relevant to their role. This unit also concentrates on selecting and applying an appropriate research technique into personal management and leadership practice.
